LIMA tahun lalu, saat bermalam di Solo, ada kabar yang mengharuskan saya cepat pulang. Untuk mempercapat perjalanan, jam 04.15 saya pakai taksi. Dalam perjalanan, kami berbincang sama sopir.
Ketika masuk Purwodadi, sopir saya ajak sarapan. Sambil menunggu hidangan disuguhkan, iseng-iseng saya ambil sendok dan sopir saya suruh memeriksa keaslian sendok itu.
Setelah dinyatakan asli, sendok itu diserahkan ke saya. Selanjutnya, dengan dua jari saya gerakkan lembut -disertai tiupan- dan sendok itu menjadi bengkok! Sopir yang mengaku mahasiswa asal Bandung itu heran dan minta diajari bagaimana caranya.
Saya setuju namun untuk satu teknik, bandrol saya Rp50.000 dan untuk belajar, minimal dua teknik. Sopir mengaku belum ada uang karena baru berangkat (narik). Karena dia tampak serius, lalu saya beri opsi, potong argo, dan dia setuju.
Saya lalu ambil dua sendok rumah makan dan mengajak sopir keluar untuk “privat”. Setelah tahu rumusnya, dia bisa melakukannya, walau belum lihai memainkannya. Dia puas dan tertawa ngakak. Saya tinggal memberi ongkos taksi Rp 150.000 dari tarif resminya Rp.250.000.
Tidak ada pihak yang dirugikan. Dia puas dapat ilmu baru dan saya pun bisa menghemat Rp 100.000 Dan yang namanya ilmu, apapun itu, suatu saat ada manfaatnya, makanya jangan berhenti untuk terus belajar.
Sedekah Ilmu
Awal kali saya menulis buku, ada teman yang mengingatkan agar saya jangan mudah membuka rahasia keilmuan. Posisi saya sebagai penulis, walau duduk manis di rumah, ilmu datang sendiri. Karena saya biasa barter ilmu dengan para senior, pembaca buku, dsb.
Yang ingin berkembang, teruslan untuk belajar. Jika belajar itu diibaratkan kulak (belanja) ilmu, tidak istilah rugi. Yang ada adalah untung, karena pengetahuan yang didapat itu bisa “dijaul” puluhan kali, tanpa mengurangi ilmunya.
Ini beda jika Anda jual beras. Keuntungan yang didapat, paling (maksimal) separo dari modal, dan setelah itu berasnya habis. Kalau yang “dijual” itu ilmu, dijual berapa kalipun tidak berkurang, dan justru bertambah.
Mahasiswa yang nyambi sopir taksi itu tipe haus ilmu, dan itu mengingatkan masa remaja saya. Usia 12 tahun saya pernah dikerjain “warga binaan” yang dihukum pemerintahan desa karena kasus pencurian.
Dia mengaku punya ilmu yang dapat mengambil rokok walau ditutup peci dan tangannya tanpa menyentuh kopiah. Karena penasaran, saya minta uang Ibu buat beli rokok. Setelah saya serahkan, rokok ditutup kopiah. Dia lalu komat-kamit, kemudian kopiah itu ditendang lalu rokoknya diambil dan dibawa lari.
Saya protes, namun dia berdalih yang dijanjikan itu benar adanya. Dia bisa mengambil rokok dan tangannya menyentuh kopiah penutup. Setelah saya amati bahasanya, saya tertawa. Begitu pun ketika teknik itu saya lakukan pada teman lain, mereka yang punya selera humor, tertawa ngakak, dan yang “sumbu pendek”, marah-marah.
Pengalaman lain, Jumat pagi saat libur sekolah saya jalan kaki tiga KM ke pasar untuk nonton tukang obat. Pernah saya tertarik saat melihat tukang obat meletakkan batu besar diatas botol kecap. Dia mengatakan akan meremukkan batu itu dengan pukulan tangannya.
Saya dan penonton lain menunggu. Yang bikin penasaran itu tiap kali dia action akan memukul batu, lalu diurungakan dan melanjutkan promosi dan melayani pembeli. Dan itu diulang-ulang hingga jualan selesai, batu itu tidak diapa-apakan.
Ketika saya tanya kapan batunya dipukul, tukang obat itu santai saja dan tidak menghiraukan kami yang sudah lama menunggu. Dari situ saya tahu, dalam kehidupan terkadang perlu tahu “siasat” agar tidak mudah kagetan.
Aktif Menulis
Awal tahun 90-an saat saya aktif menulis tentang “Tenaga Dalam” di sebuah harian, saat sowan ke kediaman agamawan yang politikus, saya diberi ijazah doa, yang menurut beliau, doa itu bisa menjadikan sumber nafkahnya dari : kemampuan memahami, ilmu (“laduni”), hikmah (metafisis) kekuatan logika atau analisa.
Karena profesi penulis itu perlu keempatnya, maka saya menganggap tidak perlu ada bagian yang harus difokuskan, karena semua diperlukan dengan tetap mempertimbangkan faktor keseimbangan.
Sebab, ketika ada remaja yang mengamalkan doa itu dengan memfokuskan pada membuka mata hati, justru menimbulkan masalah.
Misalnya, ketika teman sekolah akan kecelakaan, Simbah akan meninggal, dia sudah murung dan menangis beberapa hari. Kesimpulannya? Ilmu itu ibarat baju, yang hanya elok jika sesuai ukuran yang memilikinya.
