]]> JAKARTA (SUARABARU.ID) – Liga bola basket profesional Amerika Serikat (NBA) mengumumkan bahwa mantan Wakil Direktur pasukan pengamanan presiden Secret Service, Leon Newsome sebagai Wakil Presiden dan Chief Security Officer yang baru dari organisasi basket AS itu.

Newsome yang menghabiskan waktu 28 tahun mengabdi pada Secret Service, akan mengawasi semua aspek operasi keamanan NBA, WNBA dan G-League, selain juga 15 kantor NBA di seluruh dunia.

Dia akan melaporkan tugasnya kepada Bob Criqui, Presiden NBA yang akan efektif mulai 15 Maret 2021.

“Saya ucapkan terima kasih kepada Komisioner Adam Silver, Bob Criqui dan seluruh kelurga besar Asosiasi Bola Basket Nasional (NBA) telah memberikan kesempatan baru kepada saya untuk bergabung dengan organisasi yang luar biasa hebat ini,” kata Newsome seperti dikutip Reuters.

“Di samping bakal merindukan interaksi harian dengan mereka yang berdedikasi di Secret Service, saya menantikan untuk memulai dan bekerja sama dengan para anggota kelompok keamanan NBA,” katanya lagi.

Newsome adalah mantan pemain American Football All-Ivy League di Princeton.
